The Yellowhammer Fund. a reproductive justice organization headquartered in Alabama, is a non profit 501c3 dedicated to ensuring individuals have autonomy to make healthy choices about their bodies and their futures.

Job Title: Family Justice Organizer (Full Time)

The Family Justice Organizer will manage and supervise Family Justice programs and all relevant staff.


Duties:

Program Management:
Maintain and develop Family Justice programs and projects, including Reproductive Justice Resource Programs and Family Defense Programs.  Ensure that programs remain within budget and without overages.  Supervise relevant staff members, contractors, and volunteers.  Design and implement presentations and events that would be beneficial to current or potential clients.

Client Intake & Assessment: Collect all relevant intake information from potential clients and assess the level of support that they can be provided through the Yellowhammer Fund.

Client Referral & Support: Refer clients to appropriate Yellowhammer Fund programs or outside services.  Provide the relevant support and information needed to successfully access these services, including, when able and appropriate, brainstorming with clients and/or authorized family members and representatives about strategies to define and achieve successful outcomes regarding their case.

Data Management & Reporting: Maintain neat and well organized case management records using Google Workspace.  Make requested records and reports available to appropriate staff, volunteers, consultants, and members of the Board of Directors in a timely manner.  Maintain client confidentiality and data security.  

Internal Networking and Collaborations: Work closely with the Yellowhammer Fund team to remain educated on programs, projects and events, including important service delivery updates that affect current and potential clients.  Communicate changes in Alabama state law or relevant institutional policies that affect current and potential clients.

Outreach and Networking: Maintain and establish relationships with local, regional, and national organizations and individuals that support Family Justice & Defense programs.  Evaluate existing allies and organizations to ensure Family Justice & Defense efforts will assist and uplift activities already in place without duplicating or displacing current resources.

Public Relations: Coordinate with Yellowhammer Fund Communications & Development teams about opportunities for fundraising or grantmaking in the local community, as well as ongoing projects that can be used to leverage the Yellowhammer Fund brand nationally in order to advance reproductive justice in the South.  Provide information on ongoing campaigns to be used in Yellowhammer Fund social media, media and fundraising activities.

Location: Mostly remote except when in the field organizing, must be in Alabama (Birmingham or Montgomery preferred).

Qualifications: Some social work/political organizing preferred.

Compensation: Salary is $50,000.00 annually.  Paid healthcare, dental, vision & accidental insurance.  Flexible 32 hour workweek, paid vacation & personal time.
